Gallatin History Museum in Bozeman Montana
Located at 317 West Main Street in picturesque Bozeman
With the huge variety of near by attractions such as, Yellowstone National Park, Big Sky Ski Resort, and all of Central Montana’s amazing access to natural spaces and rivers, the Pioneer Museum is a wonderful way to explore the rich culture and history of the greater Yellowstone region.
The Montana Office of Tourism contracted InsideMT to capture advertising media of this Montana gem, filled with artifacts and exhibits telling the story of historic adventurers, explorers, natives, and settlers that made Bozeman and Montana what is today.
Founded in 1977, the Gallatin Historical Society started the museum with two rooms in the historic Gallatin County Jailhouse. The jailhouse, built in 1911 was no longer suitable for the needs of the county. When a new jail was built in 1982, the old jail was given to the historical society. Since 1982, the museum has expanded and now includes: a permanent exhibit on Native American history, a model of Fort Ellis, an extensive antique gun collection, and exclusive artifacts from Montana’s First People.
